No. The format is a structured conversation, not a competition. Students get the resolution and their side in advance, and the timed structure carries them through. It's designed for any course, not a debate team. Additionally, thorough feedback and continued practice helps students improve their skills over time.

That's the whole point of the live format. There's no document to generate, so a chatbot cannot conduct the assessment for a student. They have to defend an idea, out loud, against a real partner, in real time. You're assessing genuine understanding in the moment, not a polished artifact produced who-knows-how.

Any subject where students can reason through ideas. If a topic can be argued, interpreted, evaluated, or defended, it can be debated. Instructors can use Soapbox across the curriculum, from the humanities and social sciences to business, law, public policy, education, health sciences, engineering, and the natural sciences. You write the resolution and framing, so each debate maps to your syllabus rather than a fixed topic list.
